Council Tax Leaflet 2009
Find out how we spent your money
Kent Police Authority members agreed to increase the police council tax by 4.99%. For the average band D house this was a small increase of 12p a week - £6.40 a year.
The main investment in 2009 was in eight new neighbourhood task teams to tackle anti-social behaviour and crime. The task teams are made up of one sergeant and five police constables and were introduced in September 2009.
They will be placed in hotspot areas for a sufficient period of time to solve ongoing problems. Local people through Partners and Community Together meetings (PACT), can also play their part by making suggestions for priority areas of where they would like the task teams placed. Now each district will have a dedicated task team to further reduce crime and anti-social behaviour.
Six neighbourhood task teams were originally introduced in September 2008, one for each policing area. Now eight additional teams will join those already in place covering all 13 districts in Kent and Medway.
