What we do

Our Performance

Kent Police Authority is held to account by the Home Office and the people of Kent and Medway.

Each year the Authority is assessed to make sure we are giving you the best possible policing. We are assessed in the following ways:

Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary Inspection

In 2009, Her Majesty's Inspectorate commenced inspection of Police Authorities. Kent Police Authority volunteered as a pilot site for the Inspectorate to test their methodology. That work was undertaken in January 2009 and although there is no requirement to do so, Kent Police Authority, has published the report.

Audit Report

We also have an audit report carried out that looks at how well we use resources within Kent Police to ensure the best value for money.

Comprehensive Area Assessment (CAA)

The Authority is also assessed alongside other public sector services. This falls under a Comprehensive Area Assessment, or CAA.

Th CAA is a new way of assessing public services in England. It examines how well councils are working together with other public bodies to meet the needs of the people they serve. It's a joint assessment made by a group of six independent watchdogs. To read the most recent findings visit http://www.audit-commission.gov.uk/localgov/audit/CAA/Pages/default.aspx
