Tom was appointed to the KPA by Kent County Council (KCC) in 2005.

A general builder until his retirement, Tom has always lived and worked around Faversham.

He has been a Conservative Councillor on Faversham Town Council since 1992 and was elected to KCC in 1993.

At KCC, Tom has chaired the Education Appeals Committee and the Waste and Minerals Strategy Advisory Group. He is the current Chairman of the Local Engagement Forum, and a member of the Planning Applications Committee, the Children, Families and Education Committee and the Regulation Committee
