Ian was born in Guildford in Surrey, but moved to Kent, initially to Chatham and then to Maidstone, where he has lived with his wife and family for the last 35 years.
He and his wife have two grown up children and two grandchildren. His hobbies include gardening, and supporting Gillingham Football Club, but he also enjoys watching cricket and being a member of the National Trust.
Ian is 61, and recently retired as a Senior Manager in the Construction Industry working for some of the countries largest construction company’s. He has been both a County Councillor and Borough Councillor in Maidstone since 2007.
Ian is a Governor of the Valley Invicta Park Federation which includes the Invicta Grammar School and Valley Park School. He is also a trustee of the Howard de Walden Centre in Maidstone.
As a Councillor, Ian has taken a particular interest in road safety, community safety and working closely with local police to tackle anti-social behaviour in its many forms.
