David Coleman, who is the Independent Chair of the Kent Police Authority Standards Committee, is a retired London Borough Chief Officer with extensive experience in local government and public service. He was for many years an adviser to the Local Government Association and to various Government departments, Ministers and Members of Parliament.

David is a member of Pembury Parish Council and has been its Chairman twice, standing down from that role last year. He is President of the Kent Association of Local Councils and has been that body's Chairman in the past. With a strong interest in public service ethical and probity issues covering many years, he has been an Independent Member of the Kent County Council Standards Committee and a Parish Council Member of Tunbridge Wells Borough Council's Standards Committee.

At present he is also the Independent Chair of the Kent Fire and Rescue Authority's Standards Committee and the Independent Chair of the Kent Police Authority's Remuneration Sub-Committee.
