Purpose and responsibilities
The Audit and Governance Committee monitors Kent Police's income and spending. The committee is also responsible for all other financial matters.
The Audit and Governance Committee will:
- make sure that the police force is achieving best value for money and that all legal requirements are met
- approve the Kent Police Authority annual accounts
- monitor the capital expenditure programme and give advice to the Chief Constable and the Kent Police Authority as appropriate
- approve the internal and external auditing procedures and consider the auditor’s report and put forward any recommendations
- act on behalf of the Kent Police Authority in relation to treasury management, risk management and insurance
- ensure effective corporate governance within Kent Police
- monitor government, police authorities and other external agency’s policies and actions relating to financial management and advise the Kent Police Authority or Chief Constable as appropriate
