Setting police budgets

We aim to give you value for money policing. The Authority sets the annual budget for Kent Police. The Authority costs just £1.5million a year to run. A fraction of the overall policing budget of £277miliion.

• we balance your policing needs with the need to limit your council tax bill
• produce an annual governance statement that explains how we control and monitor the spending of public money
• report on the previous year's spending through the Statement of Accounts
• consider the independent auditor's report on how well the Authority has spent its money
